5..4..3..2..1

Here's a simple but profound concept:

Your relationships with food, fitness, and health are the same as your relationships with your life, and with the people around you. In other words, the health of your body is like a mirror for the rest of your life.

  • Are you obsessed with food, weight, and or dieting?

  • Do you turn to food for emotional comfort?

  • Do you overeat or binge when stressed?

  • Are you putting off your happiness until you lose the weight?

  • Have you lost weight only to gain it back and then some?

  • Do you want to make peace with food and your body?

  • Are you ready to get off the dieting roller coaster and achieve permanent weight loss? Do you long to transform your relationship with food and be free of dieting and/or overeating forever?

Did you know that Emotional eating is the number one reason why weight loss diet and exercise programs fail?

However...

IF You Can Count To 5, You Can Change Your Life..the five-second rule doesn’t just refer to when it’s acceptable to eat food you’ve dropped. A few moments can help you make better choices and decisions when it comes to emotional eating.

The 5-second rule can alter how you are feeling, so if you are depressed or lonely, call someone who always makes you feel better, or take some time to play with your dog or cat. If you are feeling anxious go for a walk or throw on some happy music. If you are exhausted, treat yourself with a hot cup of tea, take a bath, light some scented candles, or wrap yourself in a warm blanket. And if you are bored, grab a book or watch a comedy show, or turn to an activity you enjoy.

You also need to support yourself with healthy lifestyle habits...Exercise, sleep, and other healthy lifestyle habits will help you get through difficult times without emotional eating. Make it simple, choose one of the 4 choices below and work on it every day, after 21 days you will have formed a new habit. Journalling how you feel throughout will also help with the activity.

  1. Make daily exercise a priority. Physical activity does wonders for your mood and energy levels, and it’s also a powerful stress reducer.

  2. Aim for 7 - 8 hours of sleep every night. When you don’t get the sleep you need, your body craves sugary foods that will give you a quick energy boost. Getting plenty of rest will help with appetite control and reduce food cravings. A hot soak in the tub with Epsom Salts is a perfect way to set yourself up for a relaxing sleep. Magnesium and an hour before bed can help as well, however, check with a doctor or pharmacist if you take other medications for possible interactions.

  3. Make time for relaxation. Give yourself permission to take at least 30 minutes every day to relax, decompress, and unwind. This is your time to take a break from your responsibilities and recharge your batteries.

  4. Connect with a friend. Don’t underestimate the importance of close relationships and social activities. Spending time with positive people who enhance your life will help protect you from the negative effects of stress.

And when all else fails, it may be time to admit defeat and get some help. Lifestyle Coaching can make the difference between success and failure.
